Fjord and cider
The boat trip starts in Vik and goes to Balestrand. From there, it's about a 1 kilometer walk to Ciderhuset, where you will get a guided tour and tasting of apple cider. Here you will experience a charming, family-owned Ciderhuset in Balestrand, beautifully located by the Sognefjord.
You can also choose to travel from Bergen or Voss by bus to Vik. See more info further down the page.

Cider tasting with lunch platter

Tour of the orchard
You start the experience in the organic orchard at Ciderhuset in Balestrand. Here you will learn how apples are grown and why the climate, soil and the unique light by the Sognefjord give the fruit its unique taste.Presentation and insight
You will meet one of the family members who run Ciderhuset. They will tell you how the fruit is processed into cider, fruit wine and brandy, and how they make sparkling cider using the same method as used in Champagne.Cider tasting with five styles
You get to taste five different ciders, from light, fresh "veranda cider" to more complex and tannin-rich food ciders. Here you will really discover that apples can taste like much more than just apples!Lunch platter with small dishes

The oldest apple region in Norway
Sogn is the oldest apple region in Norway, where apple trees have flourished since the Viking Age.
At Ciderhuset you get to taste high quality cider and learn about cider, fruit wine and fruit brandy, served with knowledge and passion from one of the family members behind the production.
An eventful bus tour roundtrip from Bergen
Join us on a magnificent day trip from the coastal city of Bergen to the fjord village of Vik – an experience where history, nature and local knowledge come together. With a knowledgeable and engaging driver as your guide, you will gain a vivid insight into the culture and landscape along the way.
About the tour
Departure: The tour starts at 07:30 from the Tourist Information in Bergen city center.
First stop: After about 1.5 hours, we will take a short break in Voss to pick up more travelers.
Break at Vinje: Short stop at a gas station by the river, a magical and peaceful little break, perfect for a cup of coffee and a trip to the restroom.
Further into the mountains: We continue over the spectacular Vikafjellet mountain, where patches of snow often remain even in the middle of summer, a beautiful encounter with several seasons.
Photo stop: At approximately 10:20 we stop at the Storesvingen viewpoint, with panoramic views down towards the charming village of Vik. Here you can get off the bus and take pictures.
Arriving in Vik: Here awaits a boat trip to Balestrand, an experience that takes you close to the mighty nature of the area.
Boat trip to Balestrand. Further walk to Ciderhuset. After cider tasting and tour, the boat takes us back to the boat - which takes us to Vik.
Departure from Vik: At approximately 17:25 we continue, with a short photo stop at the beautiful Hopperstad Stave Church. Note: we do not enter the church.
Tvindefossen: Around 18:30 we stop at the impressive waterfall. Here you will find a souvenir shop, coffee stop – and toilet (payment machine).
Return to Bergen: After dropping off passengers in Voss, we will be back in Bergen at approximately 20:35.
Practical information
All bus and boat transportation is included in the ticket, as well as entrance tickets to the Cider House.
Bring warm clothes, the weather can change quickly in the mountains.
Remember your camera, this is a trip with many photo opportunities!
Toilet stops are included along the way, but there may be a fee in some places.
