We are Eco-Lighthouse certified

We are proud to announce that Lustrabaatane has been Eco-Lighthouse certified, a testament to our focus on sustainability and environmental awareness. We stand together for a greener future.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

The SDGs are the world's common work plan to eradicate poverty, fight inequality and stop climate change. In 2015, the UN's Millennium Development Goals expired and were replaced by the Sustainable Development Goals. The UN's Sustainable Development Goals are the "new" plan up to 2030.

Our sustainability goals

In our operations, we have a particular focus on three of these sustainability goals:

UN Sustainable Development Goal 9 -
Innovation and infrastructure

Our operations in the World heritage fjords are subject to some of the most strictest environmental requirements in the world. New and even stricter requirements are in the pipeline, and we will of course align ourselves with these requirements to contribute what we can to achieving this goal.

UN Sustainable Development Goal 12 -
Ensure consumption and production

The vast majority of vessels run on MGO, which has a maximum sulphur content of 1000ppm.
Since we started, Lustrabaatdane has chosen to use colored diesel in all our vessels. Colored diesel has a sulphur content of 5-7ppm, and SOx emissions are thus significantly reduced. In addition, colored diesel is mixed with BIO diesel, which further reduces emissions. The diesel we use is of the same quality as that used in passenger cars. We shut down the machines and stay on land whenever possible.

UN Sustainable Development Goal 14 - Life below water

"Conserve and use oceans and marine resources in a way that promotes sustainable development"
Nothing should be thrown overboard from our vessels. We must take care and sail carefully in areas where erosion is a challenge.

A little about the process and how we became Eco-Lighthouse:

We started the process in the spring of 2023. Procedures, routines and daily operations were reviewed and mapped to find out where we were in the process, and everything was logged to make progress and development measurable. We had a good overview of most things through the existing safety management system, and some things needed to be added.

Just before Christmas, we received a visit from afar from an Eco-Lighthouse certifier, and on December 13, we could call ourselves an Eco-Lighthouse!

We are proud of this certification and that we are entering 2024 as an Eco-Lighthouse, but we are also very aware that this is just the beginning.

The certification showed that we are very good at many things, and it has made us aware of areas where we can improve.

We must all do what we can to take care of the wonderful nature and environment that surrounds us and remember that the journey is the destination.

Everyone can do something

Wishing you a happy new year!
