Boat round trip Vik

The trip starts from the quay in Vik, and takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes by boat via Balestrand and into the peaceful Fjærlandsfjord. Bus transfer to the museum and glacier viewpoint is included.

About the tour

  • Departure: 11:00 AM from the quay in Vik. Please arrive 15 minutes before.

  • Boat trip to Fjærland , via Balestrand (at 11:50) arriving in Fjærland at approximately 1:10 PM

  • Norwegian Glacier Museum. When you arrive at Fjærland, a shuttle bus is ready to take you to the Norwegian Glacier Museum. This is an interactive museum for the whole family, where you gain insight into glaciers and climate, presented in new and innovative ways.

  • Bøyabreen . From the Glacier Museum, the hike continues up to Bøyabreen, an arm of the Jostedalsbreen. Here you get the chance to see the glacier up close, where it hangs over the mountainside.

  • Boat back to Vik at 15:30 from Fjærland. After visiting the glacier, the bus takes you back to the pier, and the trip continues back to Vik. Arrival in Vik is approx. 17:30.

Experience the Sognefjord

We cruise through the Sognefjord, Norway's deepest and longest fjord, and sail into the peaceful Fjærlandsfjord. This branch of the fjord stretches approximately 25 kilometers, surrounded by majestic mountains on both sides, and offers some of the most magnificent fjord scenery Norway has to offer.

Learn about climate and glaciers

When you arrive in Fjærland, a bus will be waiting to take you to the Norwegian Glacier Museum. This is an interactive museum for the whole family, where you will gain insight into glaciers and climate, presented in new and innovative ways.

Get up close to the glacier

From the Glacier Museum, the tour continues up to Bøyabreen, an arm of the Jostedalsbreen glacier. Here you will have the opportunity to see the glacier up close, as it hangs over the mountainside.

Afterwards, the bus will take you back to the pier where the boat to Vik departs.

Practical information

  • All transport by bus and boat is included in the ticket, in addition to entrance tickets to the Glacier Museum.

  • Food and drinks are not included. There is a café both at the Glacier Museum and at Bøyabreen, and there is a small cafeteria on board the boat.

  • Remember your camera, this is a trip with many photo opportunities!
